About this independent reference

Purpose

MachineryCompliance.help is an independent educational publication for machinery manufacturers, importers, distributors and engineering teams. Its broader subject is machinery compliance, CE marking, risk assessment and product safety throughout the product lifecycle. It is not operated by the European Commission, a market-surveillance authority, a notified body or a certification provider.

Scope and audience

The initial guide library focuses on EU machinery product requirements and the transition from the Machinery Directive to Regulation (EU) 2023/1230. This includes businesses outside the EU researching machinery for the EU market. The publication is intended to remain useful beyond the 2027 transition through its coverage of risk assessment, technical documentation, conformity assessment and product changes.

EU requirements do not establish the rules for every destination market. UK and other international regimes need separate, clearly identified coverage. The current library is not a complete international compliance reference or a substitute for workplace safety requirements.

Educational tools

The documentation checklist and assessment-route aid help readers organise questions and evidence. Completing an aid does not assess an actual machine, issue a declaration or provide certification. Machine-specific decisions remain with the responsible economic operator and suitably competent reviewers.

Editorial method

Guides identify primary sources and their review date. Current Directive requirements and the Regulation’s generally applicable 2027 framework are distinguished. The editorial approach connects legal provisions to practical questions without pretending that a general article can approve a machine.

Research references are collected in the source record. Content should be rechecked when legislation, product design or project circumstances change. A review date does not imply continual monitoring.

Illustrations

The machinery photograph is an original AI-generated illustration. Its appearance is not evidence that a depicted design meets a standard. Diagrams are conceptual explanations and omit machine-specific engineering detail.

Limits

This publication provides education, not legal advice or a guarantee of compliance. Specific scope decisions, design verification and assessment need competent people and the applicable official text.
